In the lively village center of Wilderen (with brewery-distillery and cycling route through the fruit region) you will find this beautiful church surrounded by an old cemetery. The rectangular, Romanesque tower is said to date back to 1150. This (defensive) western tower has an exceptionally constricted hipped gable roof, crowned with two crosses. During construction, dark quartzite blocks (from Tienen) were alternated with light Gobertange stone. This technique is rather characteristic of Brabant, which shows that Wilderen is on the border of the Brabant and South Limburg tradition.

In 1858 the narrow, Romanesque church nave was replaced by a neoclassical hall church in brick. The stained glass windows with rich iconography were donated by local families between 1909 (choir) and 1925 (nave).

The church tower has recently been restored and in the tower there is a new visitor center about the history and life around the church tower and also the relationship with the castle of Duras. Guided tour of the tower by appointment.
