At 2426 m, the Roque de los Muchachos is the highest mountain on the island of La Palma. The summit cannot really be called a mountain, but is one of the elevations on the edge of the Caldera de Taburiente National Park.

At the island's highest point, the 2,426-meter-high Roque de los Muchachos, a hill in the Caldera de Taburiente, is one of the world's best stargazing sites. The uniqueness of Roque de los Muchachos is characterized by a fortuitous combination of natural factors, such as the island's location, its special climate, excellent environmental quality, and the physical characteristics of the site, which result in some of the cleanest skies in the world.
