Hidden between the many small and winding alleys, the facades suddenly widen into a square with southern flair.
Around the Wittelsbach fountain there is a hustle and bustle in the small shops and the many street cafes. There's a lot to discover...

The fountain was created in 1555 as a 'scoop fountain'. The reason for this was the construction of the first water pipe from the Innstadt.
This fountain was crowned with the so-called "Brunnenliendl" - a late Gothic figure who carries a shield with the city coat of arms in the right hand and a lance with a flag in the other. (Source: regiowiki.pnp.de/wiki/Wittelsbacherbrunnen_(Passau))
