The Neuhammer, whose basic structure also dates from the 16th century, is on the left side of the Flöha. It was put into operation in 1586. In a wheel room facing the Flöha there were two water wheels with a diameter of around 8.5 m. A water wheel operated the three differently sized tail hammers, a second water wheel operated the double bellows on the forge fire. A second smaller bellows was operated manually. It was used to heat smaller forgings. A separate room on the ground floor originally served as a lockable copper store. Corresponding anvils were located on the anvil sticks of the three different tail hammers. The technical equipment of the hammer, which was still operational in the first half of the 20th century, was transferred to the Althammer in 1960. The upper half-timbered building, which was possibly added later, contained the coppersmith's apartment in addition to administrative rooms.

The Neuhammer is located outside the ring wall on the other side of Grünthaler Strasse. It was built in 1586/87 as a replacement for the Kleiner Hammer, which had been converted into a brewery. Three hammers worked in it, which were driven by a water wheel with a diameter of 4.28 fathoms (approx. 8.50 m) via an oak shaft using cams. Another water wheel drove the bellows of the forge fire via a rod.

The hammers were mainly used for forging kettles, bowls and small sheets of metal.

The tips on the chimney are intended to symbolize the Elector's hat as the owner.

The interior was incorporated into the copper hammer in 1960 when it was converted into a museum and is on display in working order.

At the end of the 1990s, the old building with the blacksmith's apartment was renovated with the help of the German Foundation for Monument Protection and converted into a blacksmith's workshop, which is now privately owned.
