The Kupferhammer Museum Saigerhütte is worth a visit for its magnificent building architecture from the old days alone. The smelter used to be the center of copper processing in Saxony. Four so-called hammer mills were once part of the Saiger factory. Hundreds of buildings in Europe were covered with the Grünthaler roofing copper, which was processed here. These include Dresden's Frauenkirche and Vienna's St. Stephen's Cathedral, some of which still have green roofs. Pretty impressive, we think.
