Four Agrippa streets (or Via Agrippa) were built under the Roman general Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa. All start from Lyon. One of them leads via Trier, Bitburg, Oos, Jünkerath, Marmagen and Zülpich to Cologne (Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium). In the foothills of the Eifel, the Agrippastraße, coming from the south, runs past the hostel through the Eickser Busch and then continues via the Eickser Mühle to the Irnicher Berg. In places there are two running paths that were built one after the other. The older road was hardly paved. The newer was six meters wide and had a solid base.
At the edge of the forest by the hostel, the road embankment can be seen in good light conditions, although it has become much flatter due to agriculture.

The "Agrippa Road" from Cologne (Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium) to Trier (Augusta Treverorum) was part of one of the most important Roman north-south connections north of the Alps. Running through Lyon, the Rhône Valley and Arles, it not only connected the province of Lower Germany with the Mediterranean region, but was also a year-round navigable connection to the motherland, since it was possible to bypass the Alps in the west and south. It received its current artificial name after Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa, who died in 39/38 and 20/19 BC.
