Very nice and idyllic resting place between the Emser Berg and the Altenburg. Many hiking trails meet here and the touching story of Mrs. Engel is told, who regularly stopped here on the way to the market.

"The story of the angels Ruh refers to the name of Elisabeth Engel from Sand, daughter of the linen weaver Friedrich Engel. Elisabeth Engel was born in 1858. She was always called" angel "by all people from Sand and the surrounding area. Nothing changed when she married and became Mrs. Rothe.

She owned a cart that she used to buy fruit and vegetables from the farmers in Sand and the surrounding area and then offered it for sale every week at the Kassel market. In this way, she took care of her family. The cart was most likely pulled by a pony. The chronological order is before 1904, since from this point the small train Kassel-Naumburg went to Kassel. More details are not known today.

Ms. Elisabeth Engel always took a break at this point, between Bad Emstal (sand) and Niedenstein. Every week, year after year. So the breaks of the "angel" remained in the memory of the people around and in Bad Emstal, the place as "angel's rest", especially in Sand and Niedenstein, has become part of the linguistic usage of the population.

Even today the place is a popular resting place between the Altenburg, the Falkenstein, the ramparts as well as the medieval desert "Embser Berg" of the Emser Berg.
