The entrance area of the castle is very impressive. Unfortunately, the Burgschänke is permanently closed and a tenant is being sought. There is a playground in front of the castle.

HISTORICAL STRELEBURG FRIEDLAND

Belonging to the network of three Streleburgs, Friedland Castle was also owned by the Knights of Strele. The roots of this oldest Lusatian rule can be found in the Burgraviate Strehla on the Elbe in Saxony.
In addition to the two Streleburgen Beeskow and Storkow, there is also the castle in tranquil Friedland
a quite impressive and surprising history and is one of the best preserved castles in Brandenburg.

Friedland Castle, Niederlausitz was built in the 13th century as a moated castle with an almost square floor plan and a double ring of walls. First mentioned in documents in 1336, it was initially pledged to the Order of St. John in 1518, like the town of Friedland and the Lordship of Friedland, to whom it was finally sold in 1533.
