Immediately in front of the west facade of the church in Kirchgasse, which leads to the market, is the oldest house in eastern Brandenburg. The last big city fire in 1513 did not completely destroy the original outbuilding, so that it could be repaired using beams from the neighboring buildings that were still usable. It stands across from St. Mary's Church. According to the latest studies, the former warehouse was built towards the end of the 15th century. After the city fires of 1512 and 1513, it was converted into a residential building as one of the few houses that had survived. A lowering of the east wall meant that the east gable had to be stabilized by a second gable wall at the beginning of the 18th century. In 1983 this house was still inhabited. After the death of its owner, it was vacant for several years and was last used by the Art Circle Beeskow. The historic half-timbered house has been open to visitors since May 1995.

The oldest house is in Kirchgasse, behind it is the St. Marien church. You can enter through the door and see the small apartment through a glass wall.

Really amazing what has been preserved so well for centuries. Really nice to look at and also great how such a house was built 500 years ago. You can still see the straw in the outer walls, which was built in. Really cute corner in Beeskow. If you are nearby, you can stop and have a look 👍
