In Badinghagen near Meinerzhagen, there is a wooden sculpture depicting the shepherd of Badinghagen. It is part of the "enchanting world of legends up on the Volme River." The carved figure is located near a lookout point in Badinghagen. Using a QR code on the bench next to the sculpture, visitors can experience the sad and beautiful story of the shepherd as an audio play:

"Once upon a time, there was a shepherd who loved his flock more than anything. He drove them daily to the meadows and pastures around Badinghagen Castle, where the sheep found the lushest grass. The shepherd was known for his gentleness and his close connection with his animals.
But the area also had a dark side. A mysterious but unfriendly lady lived in the castle. Her servants were known for their merciless behavior. And so it came to pass that the shepherd's flock was repeatedly attacked by wolves. The wolves had spread throughout the farms near the castle and were devouring the shepherd's sheep.
The shepherd tried everything to protect his flock. But one day, the wolves attacked the flock so severely that the shepherd could no longer intervene. He watched as his beloved animals were killed and sank into despair. deep sadness."
