The garden offers a short break from the city - and some peace and quiet. It is the oldest garden in Marseille. It is located on top of a hill above the Old Port and consists of paths that wind along the side of the hill. It was created in 1801 and construction took over 50 years. The last extensions date from the Second Empire.
