“In 1741, the Jewish community purchased a house on [this property]. A synagogue was built on it in 1749-57. The building was renovated several times until the 20th century. The character of a late baroque synagogue building was retained. A wooden flat barrel of the prayer room decorated with stucco rosettes can still be seen today. Over the course of the 19th century, the synagogue was renovated several times and adapted to the needs of the time. [...] Until 1938, the synagogue served as the religious center of the Jewish community.

KRISTIAN writes above on February 19, 2023 that the Grünstadt synagogue was profaned. That is not right! - Profanation always takes place with the consent of the religious (here: Jewish) community. The fact is, however, that the synagogue in Grünstadt was desecrated on the night of the pogrom; After that, continuing as a synagogue was no longer possible or forbidden!
