Crespi is the name of the family of cotton industrialists who decided to give life to this modern "ideal city of work", between the 19th and 20th centuries.
The intent was to reproduce a small fiefdom, where the house and the owner himself were a symbol of both authority and benevolence towards the workers and their families.
Only those who worked in the factory resided in the village, and the life of the entire community revolved around the factory, its rhythms and its needs.
