Two huge fires raged in the church, so today it is difficult to determine exactly when the Cathedral of St. Canice was built. The approximately 30 meter high round tower probably dates from the 6th century and is a remnant of the church that originally stood on this site.

The Cathedrale costs admission and the ascent of the tower also costs again. There is a combination ticket. Admission is paid directly in the church, at the cash desk.
I found the price of 6 € just for the church (without the tower) quite expensive and I'm not in. But everyone can decide for themselves.

This is a stunning cathedral with its round tower with commanding views. Do visit the tower, a long ladder climb though so careful if you have a dodgy ticker...
