View from Kreuzberg near Hallstadt

The Kreuzberg, which rises behind Dörfleins, is the most southeastern point of the Haßberge Nature Park. A Way of the Cross leads to the so-called Temple, a chapel built in the 19th century on top of the mountain. From there, the view extends far into the Main Valley. From this vantage point, you have a wonderful view over Bamberg. From the Altenburg to the Friesener Warte.

The temple on the Kreuzberg
Dörfleins, Kreuzberg, 364 meters above sea level

In the middle of the 19th century, families from Dörfleins erected a crucifixion group on the Kreuzberg (364 m above sea level). In 1890, at the suggestion of the St. Kilian Society in Hallstadt, wayside shrines were installed on which the stations of the cross can be seen. They show the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. In the future, it is the St. Kilian Society that will be responsible for the care and maintenance of the individual stations of the cross and the temple on the Kreuzberg. There are several processions from Hallstadt and Dörfleins to the Kreuzberg throughout the year, the most famous and important procession being on Good Friday.
