Laaxum has always been a fishing town. When the Afsluitdijk was not yet there, people fished for herring, anchovies, flounder and eel. It was not until 1912 that Laaxum got a real harbor, although today it is known as the smallest harbor in Europe.
Cool place. A restaurant/snack bar with a kind of 60s atmosphere. A hodgepodge of furniture. Very nice place. View of the IJsselmeer. You can swim there. Tiny harbor. Recommended!
