One of the 14 eight-thousanders in the Osterzgebirge.
From here you have a gigantic view over Saxon and Bohemian Switzerland (the Hohe Schneeberg with its tower can be seen prominently), as far as the Bohemian Ore Mountains and in front of the Mückenberg with the mosquito turret.

In 1999, mountaineer Götz Wiegand conducted an interview via satellite at the advanced base camp on Manaslu at 4,800 m and noted that he would like to climb more mountains that start with an "8".
