The sculpture Troll smelling Christian blood was created by the sculptor Niels Hansen Jacobsen (1861-1941). The sculpture stands in front of the Vejen Art Museum

The plaster edition was exhibited at the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition in 1897.
In 1923 a copy was placed in front of the Art Museum in Vejen as part of the Troll Fountain. By the way, it's this copy called Troll that smells like human flesh.

In Vejen, the troll is the symbol of the town. In 2011, according to the architect's design, the contour of the sculpture was to decorate an eight-storey building in Vejen. After protests from Christians who believed the sculpture to be an expression of the persecution of Christians, the parish's Technical and Financial Committee decided to drop this decoration.
