Have you ever heard of Langenberg? The district of Velbert is certainly not one of the most famous destinations on the edge of the Ruhr area, once you are there, but you will soon realize that it is worth it, once over here. Among road cyclists Langenberg is usually more known for the two broadcasters who like to be built on the 245 meter high Hordtberg in a road bike tour. Today it's off to the city itself.

Strictly speaking, Langenberg is already part of the Niederbergische Land, but is close to the pott and is practically at the gates of Essen. By suburban train you are from Essen main station in 20 minutes here. By bike it takes a little longer, but the drive through the Deilbachtal, which leads to Essen copper turn to Baldeneysee, really nice.

There is a lot to discover in the old town, because it is quite big. Since you're on a bike ride, the various antique shops of the "book city" are certainly not as exciting as the idyllic cafes and restaurants, where you should definitely try the "Bergisches Kaffeetafel".

Very picturesque old town centre. Nice to look at, but not nice to ride on a race bike, cobbles!
