The lighthouse in Malaga, known as La Farola de Malaga, is an iconic landmark of the Andalusian port city. It is located at the port of Malaga and is one of the few lighthouses in Spain named in the feminine form. “Farola” means “The Lighthouse Woman”. La Farola was built in 1817 and has served as a landmark for ships heading to the port ever since. Over the years, the lighthouse has been modernized to meet the demands of modern shipping. It stands on the Paseo de la Farola, a popular promenade that runs along the port. In addition to its practical function, the Farola also has symbolic value and represents the maritime spirit of Malaga.

The lighthouse itself is about 38 meters high and has a very characteristic cylindrical shape, making it an unmistakable element of the Malaga skyline. Especially at sunset, the area around the lighthouse offers beautiful views of the sea and the city. A great destination for a tour in Malaga.

La Farola de Málaga is a historic lighthouse in the port of Málaga. It was built between 1813 and 1817 by engineer Joaquín María Pery y Guzmán. The lighthouse is located on the Glorieta Joaquín María Pery and provides an important navigational aid for ships entering the port of Málaga.

It is a symbol of the city and gives its name to the nearby promenade, Paseo del Muelle Uno. The lighthouse has a height of 38 metres and is equipped with an automatic electric light system that flashes three times every 20 seconds.
