    14. The Rainbow – Eckwarder Hörne
    Eckwarder Hörne got its name from the acute angle at which the dyke jumps into the Jade Bay. Heavy sea groynes secure the dike. The water is about 20 m deep in front of the groyne heads. With the Jade Treaty of 1852/1853, Prussia acquired Eckwarder Hörne from Oldenburg, hence formerly also “Preusseneck”, with a size of 15,000 m² in order to build the sea groynes here, which are important for the preservation of the Jade Fairway.

    The rainbow is part of the eastern sculpture path: we recommend the sculpture path around the Jade Bay - a mosaic in words and pictures
    Along the North Sea Coast Cycle Path around the Jade Bay on the dyke protection line, both the seven days of the creation story on the west bank of the Jade Bay and seven depictions of the preservation of creation before the deluge (preservation of creation behind the dyke) worked in stone and metal along the eastern Jade Bay can be admired. The path currently ends with the representation of the Tower of Babel near Langwarden. The sculptures are the work results of the sculpture symposia on the dike.         If you want to get to know the sculpture path and its complete sculptures, you can use the passenger/bicycle ferry between Wilhelmshaven and Eckwarderhörne between 01.06.22 and 04.09.22, which runs twice a day on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. This way you can discover Butjadingen in a relaxed manner.
