CARATE MOUNTAINS 765MT
From the Romanesque sanctuary of Santa Marta in the municipality of Carate Urio (car park), follow the carriage road for about 500 m until you reach the steps leading up from the town (sign indicating Via dei Monti Lariani). Enter it and, after passing the last houses of the town, the mule track rises steeply until it reaches the Monti di Carate, a panoramic point where there is a fountain (approximately 1 hour). In the center of the town there is a refuge owned by the Amici dei Monti di Carate (open only on Sundays).
