The Koepelberg owes its name to the tea dome from 1898. The tea dome is no longer there and the view of that specific place has also become less due to the vegetation. But if you walk a few meters further, you still have a beautiful view from 'the new top' over the dunes and the Duin en Kruidberg estate.

There used to be a viewing dome on this spot, now you only see a bench with lilacs. The tea dome from 1898 is gone, as is the view. The trees are too tall now. What has remained is the appropriate name for this high dune top, the Koepelberg. The tea cupola is one of the buildings that the very wealthy owner Jacob Cremer had placed on the estate. He bought the country estate in 1895 as a summer residence, but found the house too small and old-fashioned for permanent residence. In the period 1907-1909 he had the old manor demolished and built the current, very spacious manor.

This is the new lookout point on the Koepelberg. You have a view over a large part of the dune area, from Zandvoort to IJmuiden. You can see the difference between the natural forest with oak, hawthorn, rowan and jagged beech and the park-like forest closer to the mansion with straight beech, yew and rhododendrons.
