"The manor, which was originally in the possession of the Lords of Boffessen (Boffzen), was first mentioned in 1490 when it was acquired by Abbot Hermann von Bömelburg (Boyneburg) from Corvey. The manor was rebuilt in the 16th century and in 1851 - with the graves being backfilled on the western arm - replaced by a new building. It was owned by the same family until 1914, most recently by Freiherr Friedrich Wilhelm von Boemelburg. Since 1917 it has been owned by the Freiherren von Wolff-Metternich. "
