"... The Landwehr, still preserved in remnants on both sides of the Bismarck Tower, consisted of two parallel trenches about man-deep; the spout formed a wall at least two meters high in between A third parallel trench with a second wall was to be created. Low deciduous trees were planted on the wall, which were closely connected by thorn bushes, so that it was difficult to get through. Except for the passages mentioned in the older document, there were other passages where the Landwehr crossed a street.
For security and a better overview, watchtowers were built based on the model of the Roman Limes complex, of which the one on the road to Brenkhausen and the mouse tower on the Räuschenberg still exist. The watch tower at the northern exit of Godelheim stood for a long time (demolished in 1896). The Bismarck Tower was built in 1900 from the stones of the Bosseborner Warte. ... "
