The border marker with the number 277 is close to KLINGSPOOR. The border is a common thread through the past and present of this border municipality and the other themes that are discussed at KLINGSPOOR.

The cast iron boundary posts can be found from Vaals to the Zwin in Knokke. The count goes from No. 1 to No. 369. In addition to a unique number, you will find the coats of arms of Belgium and the Netherlands on either side of the pole.

The current border goes back to the positions of the warring parties at the end of the Eighty Years' War in 1648. Only at the end of this war could Frederik Hendrik van Oranje recapture the city of Hulst from the Dutch. With the Treaty of Münster in 1648, the border between the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands and the Spanish Netherlands came to lie directly above De Klinge.

Historical interpretation:
After the separation between the Northern and Southern Netherlands in 1830, the border had to be officially established. Since 1843, there have been 369 cast iron border posts between the three-country point in Vaals and the Zwin in Knokke.
