In 1794, the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm II had the small fairytale castle built on the Peacock Island for himself and his lover Wilhelmine Countess Lichtenau. In the typical style of the time, the pleasure palace was designed as a small castle ruin.
The castle was not damaged in the Second World War and has been preserved in its original condition to this day. The impressive interior in particular will take you on a journey back in time to the late 18th century.
