The castle is embedded in a landscape park of Lenné. From here you have a very nice view over the Havel.
The castle has emerged from a former mansion of the estate. In 1840 King Friedrich-Wilhelm IV bought the estate and the mansion and rebuilt it. With the construction of the wall in 1961, it was in the restricted area and it attracted the NVA and later the customs.

Opposite Glienicke Palace and Park and the New Garden, on the other side of the Havel, lies the 26.3 hectare Sacrow Garden. The area completes the ring of gardens around Potsdam's Jungfernsee. This extraordinarily attractive location was also the reason why Friedrich Wilhelm IV acquired Sacrow in 1840.

Peter Joseph Lenné was commissioned to landscape the area. During the GDR era, the park became overgrown and was restored in 1994.
The park is open to the public and admission is free. Sacrow Castle is occasionally used as an exhibition venue in the summer months
