    Bad Elster, as Saxony's most traditional state spa and one of the oldest German mud spas, is located in the border triangle of Bohemia, Bavaria and Saxony in the middle of the world-famous European spa region in the heart of Europe. After Bad Elster was first mentioned in a document in 1324, the first source was scientifically examined here in 1669 and dedicated to the then sovereign Duke Moritz von Sachsen-Zeitz. The first warm mineral water baths were offered here in simple wooden sheds as early as 1818, before Bad Elster was elevated to the status of "Royal Saxon State Spa" in 1848. Today the "Königsbad" is one of the most renowned spas in Germany.

      Bad Elster with its wonderful spa park and healing springs is worth a visit. In addition to the buildings from the beginning of the 19th century, the expansion of the Marienquelle in 1960 with ironwork by Fritz Kühn was interesting for me. In the area of the spa park there are also various cafes and restaurants of good quality at reasonable prices.

          Beautiful spa town. Nice is also the Kurwaldpark, here however solid and good shoes are to be recommended. Also, you should be good on foot, since there are gradients to overcome, which are not to be underestimated.

            Beautiful city with a wonderful spa park, beautiful natural theater and great hiking trails. It's just a shame that there aren't as many roses growing in the rose garden anymore.
