In a way, Aachen is a university with a bit of a city around it. University buildings are spread all over the city and there are real university building districts, especially on the western outskirts. Here on Templergraben is the headquarters with the main building of the RWTH Aachen, which was inaugurated in 1870.

The interesting building actually has the shape of a giant C. RWTH services for students are offered there.
It was supposed to be supplied with geothermal energy via a deep borehole. But that didn't work.
