The magnificent Königskolonnaden at the entrance to Kleistpark originally stood at the Königsbrücke on Alexanderplatz since 1780. Around 1910, Alexanderplatz was redesigned and the colonnades were moved to Potsdamer Strasse in a big move. Since then, the colonnades have been part of the building ensemble of the Berlin Superior Court.

"Not big, but old - the Kleistpark was a botanical garden for 200 years. Today the diversity is human. (...) And so it is possible to ignore the magnificent so-called king's colonnades in the Kleistpark, which were built in 1777 by Karl von Gontard, the court architect of Old Fritz, and had to give way to a Wertheim on Alexanderplatz. One can overlook the "genius of the spirit", the winged angel with his torch. One never sees anyone standing in front of the memorial plaque that says that in the today's Superior Court sentenced the Hitler assassins to death on July 20, 1944. And only very small children whinny enthusiastically at the sight of the grandiose horse tamers with their horses, which were sculpted by Peter Baron Clodt von Jürgensberg, a sculptor with a soft spot for veins."
