Only a few meters from the large Reinoldikirche you will find the St. Mary's Church. Their foundation stone was laid only a few years after the construction of the Reinoldikirche. Dortmund confessed quite early to Protestantism. As a result, various parties have repeatedly struggled for the city. By the end of the 16th century, almost all of the population had fled the city due to the ongoing fighting and the buildings were declining rapidly. The St. Mary's Church was so dilapidated in the 19th century that it was almost demolished. Only the influence of the Prussian crown prince and the chief building director Karl Friedrich Schinkel could save the church. After a long restoration, the church has been officially reopened since 1882.

All pilgrims get a stamp for their pilgrim pass in Westphalia.
