Located by a beautiful pond, Gyeonghoeru Pavilion offers visitors one of the most beautiful photo opportunities in Gyeongbokgung Palace. It once served as a banquet venue for celebrations or to welcome and entertain foreign envoys during the Joseon Dynasty.

Today, the pavilion is a national treasure of South Korea. It was entered via the three bridges on its side, with the one with the largest gate intended only for the king. It was originally a small pavilion that was enlarged with the pond in 1412. It burned down completely in 1592 during the Japanese invasion and was only replaced by the current building in 1867.
