The Changdeokgung (Palace of Shining Virtue) is one of five remaining royal palaces from the Joseon Dynasty. A main attraction of Changdeokgung is the back garden (Huwon) or the secret garden (Biwon).
The palace complex is huge and you should definitely bring enough time for a visit, otherwise you just can not enjoy the place.
In 1997, Changdeokgung Palace was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Donhwamun Gate, built in 1412, can be seen in front of the palace. The gate is a two-story wooden structure and was the main gate to Changdeokgung Palace. As soon as you enter, you should take a little time for the typical and well-preserved ornaments.
