The historic waterworks was built in 1901 by Karl Albert Gollwitzer at the confluence of the Lech and Wertach rivers and is the largest waterworks in the Augsburg canal system.

The hydroelectric power plant in the Wolfzahnau - just a few meters from the confluence of Lech and Wertach in Augsburg - is an extremely impressive engineering monument in the landscape conservation area. The hydropower plant went into operation in 1902, initially to supply the cotton mill on Stadtbach and later the company Christian Dierig with electricity. It is now privately owned and not open to the public. However, it can be visited on the Augsburger Wassersagen. Currently, this power plant supplies 15,000 people with electricity.

A very impressive building, which looks more like a small moated castle from the outside ...
