Among the buildings of the medieval town, the town hall occupied the most important position as the seat of the municipal authorities and a symbol of municipal independence.
After the town hall was renovated from 1817 to 1820 under the construction supervision of the Ludwigslust court and country architect Barca, it underwent another extensive renovation between 1993 and 1997, becoming a special jewel in the historic old town.
