The well-preserved Jewish cemetery on Harbachweg is not open. But you can at least visit it through the gate and over the walls.

The Jewish cemetery was established outside the city walls in 1835. The last burial took place in 1938.

There were other Jewish cemeteries in Aub prior to this.

In Aub, the first Jewish cemetery was laid out in the 17th century around 1630 directly in front of the city wall on Harbachweg. The memorandum reports on the funeral of the rabbi wife Jutta, who died in 1631 and was the second person to be buried in the cemetery. Before 1630, the dead of the community may have been buried in Rödelsee.

From 1665 to 1695 the dead of the community were buried in Eibelstadt for unknown reasons, at times probably also in Allersheim, Rödelsee and Laudenbach. From around 1700 the cemetery in Aub was used again for burials. After the old cemetery was fully occupied, the community laid out a new cemetery on a newly acquired property on Harbachweg (diagonally across from the old cemetery) from around 1880 (or as early as the first half of the 19th century?). This new cemetery is an elongated piece of land.

The religious leader Abraham donated money in 1923 to build a wall around the site. About 40 tombstones of the old cemetery were built into the western enclosure wall after it was piled up and leveled in the early 1920s (see report below). Today only a memorial stone reminds of the old cemetery in addition to a stone walled in. The graves are under the heaped area.
