The Royal Iron Works Museum is a particularly interesting place. Weapons were made here between the 18th and 19th centuries. The plant closed in 1872 and fell into disrepair. It wasn't until 100 years later that restoration work began. Today the museum is a versatile exhibition about the industrial history of Calabria, which is also dedicated to the little-known branches of industry, such as the processing of natural products (silk, liquorice, and others).
Another exciting fact: this building was one of the first in Italy to use cast iron.
