The landmark and most famous bridge in Dublin is undoubtedly the Half Penny Bridge.
The bridge across the river was built around 1816 and initially bore the name of the first Duke of Wellington. If you wanted to cross the bridge you had to pay a "toll" of half a penny.

This bridge over the Liffey River (whose official name would be Liffey Bridge) was opened in 1816 and is commonly known by all as "Ha'penny Bridge" a name derived from the toll cost imposed on those who wanted to cross it. To cross the River Liffey, before the bridge was built it was necessary to use a ferry by incurring the cost of 1 penny. The bridge over the river initially maintained the same cost, later reduced to half a penny (Ha'penny). The toll was said to have been imposed to "prevent" the poor classes living north of the river from freely reaching the wealthier and more affluent side of the south side. The toll was later lifted in 1919
