Since 2003, the approximately 120-meter-high needle stands on the intersection O'Connel Street / Henry Street, exactly on the place of the 1966 IRA blown up Nelson column. Actually, the Spire should be set up at the Millennium, but the schedule has been delayed a bit.

The Spire of Dublin (also known as the Monument of Light) is a really cool sculpture that stands tall in the heart of Dublin's city center.

It's essentially a giant stainless steel spike that measures over 120 meters in height, making it one of the tallest structures in the city.

The Spire was erected in 2003 as part of a redevelopment project, and it's become a major landmark and meeting point for both tourists and locals alike. Some people think it looks like a giant needle or a rocket ship, but regardless of what you see, it's definitely worth checking out!

When the Spire was first unveiled, it was originally supposed to be called the "Millennium Spike," as it was erected in 2003 to commemorate the new millennium. However, many Dubliners quickly started referring to it as the "Stiletto in the Ghetto," due to its location in a formerly run-down part of the city. The name has stuck, and the Spire is still known by this playful moniker today.
