At and after dusk, the surrounding parks (including Parc del Guinardó and Parc Güell) become very quiet. Here, however, it is very crowded, hundreds of people scramble for the best seats. Only a few meters away from the spot but you have a lot more peace (before you have to go back into the crowd for the descent).

Although depending on the place of the city the perception can betray us a little, the hill of Rovira is a little lower than its neighbor, the hill of Carmel. Specifically, about four meters. Even easier to access than Carmel, the Rovira hill is where the Carmel anti-aircraft batteries are located (the so-called “bunkers” of Carmel).
A height of 262 m above sea level and a 360º view make Turó de la Rovira a privileged natural viewpoint and a strategic location for the defense of Barcelona during the Civil War.
The inauguration of the Turó de la Rovira heritage site meant the arrangement and heritage action of a place in the city, until then quite degraded, isolated and unknown, where the remains of an anti-aircraft battery were kept defended Barcelona from air attacks during the Civil War, as well as the traces of the Barracista core of the Canons neighborhood, which lasted until 1990.
In the spring of 2015, thanks to the intervention carried out by the Museum of the History of the city, the MUHBA Turó de la Rovira opened new exhibition spaces where a synthesis of the history of Barcelona is presented from a bird's eye view, the Barcelona of the war and post-war, the anti-aircraft battery on the Rovira hill and the Canons neighborhood, as well as the role of the barracks in the city. The Battery Command space shows the relationship between modern technology and aerial warfare in large cities.
