Urban horticulture has been practiced in Bamberg since the Middle Ages. The late medieval structure of horticulture has been preserved to this day in a unique way in the center of Bamberg and contributes to the special charm of Bamberg. It is not for nothing that the old town is a World Heritage Site.

It's actually a view over a large meadow. But it at least gives you an idea of the areas that were once used for gardening. It's a shame that only small remaining areas are still being cultivated. While you're there, it's worth climbing the few steps, but it's not really worth the extra effort.
