Arendsee - the pearl of the Altmark - is located on the 554 hectare lake, from which the city got its name. The Arendsee is one of the cleanest lakes in northern Germany and has been a popular destination for hikers, cyclists and mountain bikers for generations.

Arendsee (Altmark) is a town in the Altmark district of Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt.
It was officially recognized as a climatic health resort in 2002.
The town is located in the north of the Altmark on the southern shore of the Arendsee, the largest and deepest natural lake in Saxony-Anhalt.
Just a few kilometers away are the Wendland in Lower Saxony and the Prignitz in Brandenburg.
