Franciscan monastery Mühlen
The Franciscan monastery in Mühlen was founded in 1908. By laying the foundation stone on March 19, 1909, the Franciscans began building the monastery church under the direction of the architect Brother Quintilian. The church was completed at the end of the same year. On October 20, 1910, the church was consecrated in a solemn service by Auxiliary Bishop Eberhard Illigens, Münster. In 1926, Mühlen became a parish rectorship and later became a parish. Later, part of the monastery was converted into senior housing. The Franciscans have been living in an apartment building behind the church since 2007. On April 27, 2008, the Franciscans celebrated the 100th anniversary of their monastery with the then independent parish of St. Bonaventura.
