Protected ground monument. Apart from ramparts and ditches, there is not much to see, the former buildings can only be guessed at. Nevertheless, it can be seen very clearly that these are man-made traces.
According to the information board at the entrance:
"Protected ground monument
Old castle
Ramparts and moats of the castle, which was destroyed by Heinrich Raspe in 1227, on a mountain spur jutting northwest from the large Ettersberg.
Mentioned in a deed of donation from Count Berno as early as 1079-89, the last fiefdom of the Lords of Vippach. "
