Fort north of Spaarndam is one of the forts of the Defense Line of Amsterdam and was built in 1895. In 1901 the bombproof building was also finished. In 1950 the fort was abandoned and today it is still in exactly the same condition as it was then.

This fort is still in the state it was abandoned in 1950. Only the roof was redone in 2018 in order to save the decades-old wall designs, made during WWI and WWII by Dutch and German soldiers .

One of the many fortresses of the Defense Line of Amsterdam and along the water line. For more details about the fort: stellingvanamsterdam.nl/nl/fort-benoorden-spaarndam.

Apparently the fort is open to the public a few times a year, unfortunately not when we walked past.
