Museum of Cultural History
For over 100 years, one of the largest museums of cultural history in Lower Saxony has been presenting its collections on the folklore of eastern Lower Saxony, the history of the city of Celle and the regional history of the former Kingdom of Hanover opposite the Celle Castle. The completely redesigned permanent exhibitions have been accessible again since the end of October 2013. The result is exhibition areas that illuminate the cultural history of the city and region in different ways.
Connected to the built-in farmhouse is a tour that presents the importance of agriculture for the cultural history of the Celle area. Another exhibition leads into the Biedermeier era and shows the emergence of civil culture in Celle. The upper floor is dedicated to the development of industry and craft. The top floor uses three examples that are significant for Celle, showing migration to the Celler Land, experiences with losing one's homeland and settling in a foreign country. Another exhibition is dedicated to the discovery of the Lüneburg Heath by travelers, artists and writers.
In addition, the museum shows special cultural and historical exhibitions. The museum's educational department offers a wide-ranging program for visitors of all ages - from children's birthdays to artist workshops.

Directly opposite the Celle Castle is the Bomann Museum, one of the largest and most important museums in Lower Saxony. The house, founded in 1892 as the "Fatherland Museum", was named in 1923 after its first director Wilhelm Bomann. Collections on Lower Saxony folklore and on the regional and city history of Celle are presented.
