Celle Castle is one of the most beautiful castles of the Welf dynasty, one of the oldest of the princely houses still in existence today. First mentioned as a "castrum" in 1318, the initially simple castle was rebuilt over the centuries into an elaborate and magnificent four-winged complex and continually expanded. Renaissance and Baroque styles form a distinctive blend here. In addition to the Residence Museum, the castle houses the oldest Baroque theater in Europe still in use today, as well as the castle chapel, the only place of worship north of the Alps with completely preserved Renaissance furnishings.

Celle Castle is home to the oldest castle theater in Germany that can still be used!
A very nice children's Christmas program is offered here every year, especially at Christmas time.

The monument "Hengst Wohlklang in the liberty dressage" in the castle park was set up and unveiled in 1985 ... and only a short time later the whip (crop) was missing from the raised hand of the stud farmer!
In fact, she hasn't reappeared to this day.
