The "Klösterle" was built in 1463, but has now lost its title as the oldest residential building in Stuttgart to the house in Brählesgasse 21, as this was built as early as 1348 according to the latest investigations.
Nevertheless, this extensively renovated building is always worth seeing.

The Klösterle is the oldest residential building in Stuttgart that has been completely preserved from the basement to the roof.

The name Klösterle, which has been preserved over the centuries, was long associated with the Beguines, a religious women's movement that emerged in the Netherlands in the 12th century and quickly spread throughout Central Europe. However, more recent research suggests that the building, including the Klösterle-Scheuer, which was built around 1580, probably only ever had secular owners.

According to dendrochronological analysis, the timbers used in the Klösterle were felled in 1463 and were probably installed quickly, as was usual at the time. Therefore one can assume 1463 as the year of construction.
