The Winnenden theft, formerly called the Fangturm, stands on the southwest corner of the old city wall. It was originally built as a prison for criminals who came under high jurisdiction and who faced the death penalty. Lesser offenders came into the gate tower. The wall at this point was once nine meters high.

The Thieves' Tower with a small section of the city wall is integrated into a small green area. This also includes a fountain with a sculpture depicting a thief.
The Thieves' Tower used to house criminals. That's why the thief at the fountain also looks at the tower, true to the motto "I hope they don't catch me". I like that!
